Daily Web reports are available from a multinational ALS symposium held in Berlin Dec. 8-10, 2009.

ALS researchers from around the world gathered in Berlin, Germany, Dec. 8-10, to report on and discuss the latest research advances in this disease.

Daily updates from the symposium are available online at the Web sites of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA Symposium reports) and ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI Symposium reports).

The 20th International Symposium on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis/Motor Neuron Disease was organized by the MNDA, an organization based in England, Wales and Northern Ireland that’s dedicated to the support of people with motor neuron diseases and those who care for them.

Participants included more than 850 delegates from around the world. Sharon Hesterlee, Senior Vice President-MDA Venture Philanthropy, and Annie Kennedy, MDA Vice President-Advocacy, represented MDA. (Hesterlee left the Association in mid-December.)

The ALS TDI,  based in Cambridge, Mass., and heavily supported by MDA, also was represented at the symposium.
